Day 16 Back to Scotland

Whitehaven itself isn't much better in the morning - it's Market Day and they've closed off half the narrow streets and filled them with stalls and even more people.

I head for the port and can finally see the whole layout.
It's great.

I get some good photos and a much better idea of the layout of the town in daylight.

But I've had enough. Satisfied that I can understand anyone wanting to leave here I head back to Scotland via Carlisle.

My brother has a theory:
The El Queda attacks are programmed in a date sequence.
The Twin Towers attack in New York was 09.11.01.
The first Bali bombing was 10.12.02.
Today is 11.13.03!
So where do I go?
Based on the theory that lightning doesn't strike twice, I stop at Lockerbie on the way to Glasgow from Carlisle.
The Memorial Gardens are a very moving place. Solitude and serenity where there once was disaster.
Any one of the hundreds of stories is sad and compelling.

Further up the motorway I hit the outskirts of Glasgow at Hamilton
The directions to Paisley are simple - get on the motorway off at Exit 29.
It's grey, drizzling and generally miserable. My view of Glasgow is tailights ahead and beside me.
I find the turn off, find Kilbarchan, find my farmstay and find myself not far from where this journey started 16 days ago. I find the local pub, have a quiet counter tea and an early night.
